BALTIMORE, MD- Women on several college campuses celebrated women’s accomplishments during Women's History Month in March

Former President Jimmy Carter spoke at Congress making March 2nd-8th, 1980 as National Women's History Week.

“Too Often the women were unsung and sometimes their contributions were unnoticed. But the achievements, leadership courage, strength ,and love of women who built America was vital as that of the men whose name so well,” said Carter.

From Harriet Tubman to Mother Theresa, Women have been making an impact in this world despite the hurdles that have been placed in their way by societal and cultural norms.

Women have been fighting for centuries to get the same things like education and voting rights that their male counterparts have had given to them freely.

Yazmine Barnes, a freshman at Towson University discusses what women empowerment meant to her and why is it so important that everybody celebrate it.

“Women Empowerment means that you can do whatever you want in life to certain points. Don’t limit yourself,” said Barnes

She also said, “Empowerment means that you are confident in yourself and your confident in who you are.”

According to the World Bank Group Gender Stragety for 2024-2030.

"Accelerating gender equality is at the heart of the World Bank Group's mission to create a world free of poverty on a livable planet."

"Gender gaps in earning persist across all regions. For every dollar make, women make 77 cents . Closing this gap can lead to sizeable gains for economies- a 14 percent increase in total wealth globally."

Jackie-Facia Foley, a junior political science major at Morgan State, speaks on how she is using to empower the next generation of women through God and leadership.

“The ways that I’m using to empower is speaking life into them. Letting them know that no matter what the circumstances in life may be they are going to make it out of it, they going to be great,” said Foley.

As people are looking to the future, women are still empowering people around the world and the future of women is so bright and the world is not ready for womens are about to do in ever single aspect of live.
